“We'll make sure they're allowed a moment of glory.”
“Right, enough blather Norri, let's get going.”
“I was checking the preparations-”
“Hush! We should get an invitation.”
“Oh, and how do you propose we do that? We haven't had time to turn in our dear friend Blackbartt or wahtever his name is.”
“Don't worry, I have everything under control.”
“Oh do you?”
--
A noblemen is dropped off by a nice carriage and begins walking across the gardens to the ball. Purse ringing happily with it's shining burden of coins. Suddenly he's knocked over the head with a rum bottle and dragged behind a bush.
--
“'Thomas Warner'” Dusk tucked the purse into her dress and eyed the invitation.
“Guess that's going to be you Norri. I'll be Mary Warner.”
She cocked her head and looked over Red for a moment.
“Lizzie Warner.”
She didn't allow him to argue.
“Right then, here we go.” She handed the invitation to Norrington and the 'family' followed him to the door of the ball.
They were quiet as Norrington handed the invitation to the greeter, half expecting to be discovered before they made it into the ball itself, but the greeter simply took the invitation and bowed, letting them inside.
“Everything under control.” Dusk reminded Norrington as they entered. She looked behind her to make sure Red wasn't passing out from his corset just yet.
--
The faint yet glaring presence of others of his kind floated in the back of Erik's mind, but, as usual, he didn't pay it much mind. He was too busy eying the nape of a young lady's neck. So soft and white, he could see the veins. He took her hand and kissed it, smiling gently so that his fangs would not disturb her and giving her a dreamy glance of his stormy gray eyes behind his golden locks. He asked her to dance and the color rose in her cheeks, this was going to be a good night.
