((Thread to coincide with Shu's. I'll be Penny and McCoy as usual, but mainly their son, "Spot" or John McCoy xD a Doctor who works under Chief Medical Officer Crusher, and would probably work side by side with Edmund as well. I will also play the Borg "Hugh" when he pops up ^^. In this thread Data will be played by a returning rper E/Grell, who used to play Data but had to leave because of health issues and I'm really glad to see him back! Data's still open for a player in Shu's thread tho, so no panicking! Enjoy and don't forget "Star Trek TNG OC" :3))
Captain's log supplemental. After his assistance in the rescue of Commander Data, the borg Third of Five, or "Hugh" as he is affectionately called by the crew, is arriving on board the Enterprise to join her crew. As an insight into the mind of the Borg collective and an individual possessing incredible abilities he shall prove an invaluable asset to our crew.
The bulky, yet short figure of "Hugh" appeared on the transporter platform and Geordi moved toward it with his ususal wide grin. He moved as if he were to hug the young borg, but stopped himself, he didn't exactly want to tear his uniform on random gizmos or freak Hugh out. "What is Geordi doing?" Hugh asked with a puzzled expression. Geordi laughed. "It doesn't matter, we still have a lot to teach you about how we live." Geordi noticed the curious look on the face of young Doctor Mccoy and laughed.
"Hugh, this is my friend, John."
Hugh's limbs mechanically shifted until he faced John.
"Greetings John. I am Hugh."
"He-hello there. Nice to meet you." He mustered up a smile and offered a hand, only to put it back down awkwardly at the sight of Hugh's hands.
"There is something wrong with the Doctor's voice."
"Haha, nah, he's just a little shy."
"Shy?" Hugh walked right up to John, looking up at him.
"John is a Doctor like Beverly Crusher?"
"That's right!" Geordi beamed.
John laughed and scanned Hugh with his tricorder.
"Is he good to go, Doc?"
"Well... um...I've never seen readings like this before but he seems to be alright according to what Doctor Crusher said."
"Alright Hugh, let's get down to Engineering!"
"After you Geordi." He stopped a second.
"Well, aren't you coming?" Geordi asked.
"Hugh missed friend, Geordi."
Geordi smiled.
"I missed you too Hugh." He patted the stiff youth on the back. "What'dya say we stop by and say hello to Commander Data before we get back to work?"
John smiled and hurried back to Sickbay, having trouble ignoring the curious new crew member.

(hai guys! Iz Alive! ;D)
Data was teaching his old Spot new tricks. The orange tabby cat had no spots, thus his name Spot. Data chuckled humorlessly to himself thinking of his clever joke. That would teach Geordi to tell him he had no concept of humor. Why in "concepts of humor parts 1-500" Data had memorized them all. Though his earlier attempt at slapstick when Captain Picard had failed to fall into his clever "slip on the banana trap," had gone curiously wrong.
Data cocked his head quizzically to one side. This humor business may warrant more uninterrupted study in the holodeck at a later time.
It was at that moment that Spot jumped from his arms and ran to another spot where he began to chase the other Spot into sickbay. Had Data emotion, he might have been slightly upset that someone had stolen the name of his cat. As it was, he merely was confused someone would name their son after his cat. Nevertheless, the whole thing got very interesting when he called Spot to mealtimes and it broke up the monotony of the long days in space, the final frontier.
"I see Spot run," Data said, "to Spot!" He grinned but no one laughed so he brushed an orange tabby fur from his pea green uniform and stood to welcome his guests. It was part of the crew with that curious Borg fellow. the one that made Data look as if he had a tan. "Hello Geordie, hello you, Hugh."
Data smiled, a creepy, yellow-eyed smile. He could hear Geordie sigh. Geordie was always sighing. Perhaps he should mention that concern to the other Spot in sickbay when he went to collect his Spot.

Miranda had spent most of her day in engineering, she'd learned quite a bit about the place, but she still felt like being there. After all, she wanted to become as familiar with this place as possible, and she wasn't boring herself. She looked up from the maintenance computer when Geordi and Hugh entered the room.
"Well lookit you!," Miranda exclaimed, looking at the young borg. "Aren't you just the cutest thing to walk in today! I'm Miranda Davis, but you can call me Miranda or Davis, your choice." Miranda was rather excited, but decided not to blab on too much as not to confuse the new guy.
"Hello Data." Hugh's face turned to puzzlement at Miranda's approach and he looked to Geordi for backup.
"This is one of our leading ladies in Engineering, Miranda. She's really quite handy around here."
"Handy?"
Miranda laughed, "Handy means helpful. I'm sure you'll turn out to be quite the handy-man too!"
"Hugh would like to be handy too." His robotic arm opened and closed with an awkward buzz.
"Well then, I guess we get back to work!" Geordi beamed.
"Yeah, welcome aboard Hugh!," Miranda smiled.
"Come on Hugh, let me give you a quick tour of Engineering." Hugh just looked at Geordi and nodded a little.

John looked down as a cat walked into Sickbay. "Hey now, that's hardly sanitary." He knelt beside the cat and stroked her chin. "You're the other 'spot' aren't you?" He chuckled a little and picked the cat up. He'd have to change his sanitary coat and gloves, but he couldn't resist holding the cat a moment.

Data studied Hugh, he did not understand how the crew had "adopted" the young borg. All linear interpolation pointed to the negative conclusion of admitting "Hugh" into the collective confidence of the Enterprise crew. Still, there was something about Hugh that seemed to endear him to the other members, specifically Geordi. He must remember to ask Geordi about this later.
Data cocked his head to one side and looked at the others quizzically. It seemed that the female members of the crew specifically were taking a liking to the young Borg. He was not by normal societal standards attractive; not muscular, tall or tanned. Perhaps it was a maternal quality that made them giggle around Hugh.
"Hello Hugh, how are "Hugh?" Data asked with a grin, slapping his upper quadratus femoris. The Borg stared at him. Clearly he would have to take Hugh under his wing and teach him hugh-more.

Hugh gave Data a wide-eyed and rather clueless expression. "Hugh is functioning well Data. How is Data?"
Geordi laughed and shook his head, already tapping away at the keys of a computer console nearby.

Miranda left engineering. She was heading back to her quarters to have tea when she passed the holodeck. Pausing, she looked at it. Tempting. Maybe she'd just spend a quick moment there to relax after a long day.
She downloaded a forest program she'd created a while ago. It was warm and morning-like, the grass sparkled in the sunlight. There were snowy mountains in the distance. Nearer was a lake with a flowery meadow around it. There were some deer grazing in the fields. The best part was, there was gorgeous Unicorns of various colors. Miranda walked down the hill to meet a blue unicorn. It snorted and scuffed the ground with it's hoof, nodding it's head, silver horn sparkling in the yellow sunlight.
"Hello there," Miranda reached forward to pet the large creature. The unicorn snorted, and some other unicorns approached. Some were light-pink and others were creamy colors. Miranda smiled and looked at the beautiful unicorns. "You guys are awesome."
After a while Miranda petted the Unicorn's goodbye and ended the program. Leaving the holodeck, Miranda finally head for her quarters, but was stopped by Deanna Troi. She smiled uneasily, "Whoa, hi. I'm.. uh.. just heading to my quarters. . . "
Troi smiled, a little bit uneasy herself due to the strong emotion she sensed in Miranda. "I'll let you go then, do tell me if you need something, however."
"Will do, thanks." Miranda quickly left for her quarters, feeling weak to the knees. She grabbed some Earl Gray from the replicator and took a seat on her bed with a sigh. Darn unicorns even fail to keep me distracted! Gosh. Oh well, they're awesome anyway.

Picard paused, a puzzled expression passing over his face. He'd just ordered his usual Earl Gray tea from the replicator but he'd turned to greet a passing crew member and now it was gone.
Geordi had almost finished running maintanence scans and had moved on to checking the dilithium crystal readings. "Everything's looking pretty good!" He turned to where Hugh had been standing beside him observing but he was gone. He looked over to see him staring at Commander Data again.

"I am in excellent functioning order, Hugh," Data replied. "I will teach you humor, Hugh."
"Humor?" Hugh replied, "Humor is irrelevant."
"The relevancy of humor is illogical. Most species have Humor. The physiological study of laughter even has its own name, gelotology. Preliminary results indicate that the humor-processing pathway includes parts of the frontal lobe brain area, important for cognitive processing; the supplementary motor area, important for movement; and the nucleus accumbens, associated with pleasure."
"Why?" asked Hugh, shifting his eyes to Geordi and back.
"Studies suggest humor plays a powerful and unique role in human life with wide-ranging effects on many aspects of functioning. Humor can tie people together, help them cope with daily stress, and have a positive effect on the immune systems..."
Geordi sighed. "maybe you can tell us a joke Data?"
"Am I borging you, Geordie?" Data smiled... a lot.
"You will be assimilated."

Why did it seem now that Miranda was trying not to run into Troi, she just ran into her more often? She fidgeted. Troi probably already knew anyway, being Betazoid. That was the reason Miranda had tried to avoid her, but it probably didn't work. She sighed, and sipped her tea, which was still a little warm but she didn't worry. When her tea was done, she got another one, this time asking for a cold one.
After a while and two teas Miranda had mostly calmed down when someone was at the door. Too lazy to get up, she simply said, "Come in." Her heart did a flip with she saw Troi enter, she hopped up off the bed. "Is there something I can do for you?"
"Yes, actually," Troi said with her usual part-smile. "Do me a favor and calm down."
Miranda nodded, but she knew she couldn't. "I- um. Uh. . . I'm having trouble with that right now," She tucked a lose hair behind her ear. "Um, why don't you take a seat?" Miranda offered, now sitting on the bed again.
Troi smiled and sat down on a chair, "I see that. Now. . . I know what you are feeling and I don't entirely know how to respond." She laced her hands together and rested them in her lap.
Miranda sighed through her nose. "Yeah, well. There goes the whole try-not-to-let-you-find-out idea." She giggled uneasily when Troi laughed. "Well, I can totally understand if it would be too awkward and all. . . I mean. . . Yeah." Miranda looked at the floor, studying the carpet.
"You're thinking far too hard. Relax, stressing yourself will only cause you to hurt," Troi stood up and moved over to Miranda. "I will return to talk to you again, I need some time."
Miranda looked up to her and nodded. She was nervous and didn't feel any better. What a day, what a day. "Yeah, that's fine."
Troi smiled again and hugged her. "Stop worrying," She knelt down so she could see Miranda's face, "It will be odd to the rest of the crew, and they may take their time to adjust. But I can assure you there is no reason for worry."
Miranda felt really light-headed. She was saying... what?! Did she mean that . . . She felt her heart race. "Alright," Miranda said with a nod, feeling like she was going to fall unconscious any moment, or wake up from a dream. When Troi left the room, she lay back on the bed, trying to decide if that were all real or not.

(Whoa... Mister-E gets out the popcorn for some Miranda and Counselor Troi action! ^^ Heee! Bow chicka mow wow! *coughs* ah yeah.. *calms down*)
"I cannot be assimilated, Hugh. I can only be reprogrammed. Now let me tell you about Ernest Borg-nine, " Data said, draping his arm around Hugh's shoulder in a way to create a comfortable familiarity with the young Borg.
"Borg of nine?" Hugh said, large eyes blinking.
Geordi sighed again. It was gonna be a long night with these two.
