Captain's log, Stardate 2366.1.1. Our destination is Starbase 46, where we will be joined by several important members of our crew including our Chief Medical Officer and Chief Engineer. After their arrival we will begin our mission... Although this is my first mission in command of a starship, Starfleet has seen fit to honor me with the command of the Galaxy-class U.S.S. Aotearoa. I look forward to getting to know my crew, and my ship, and guiding them through the unseen challenges that await us.
Captain Pennington was grinning like a kid at Christmas, looking around at the ship's interior as an unfortunate Ensign finished giving her the tour even though it was rather obvious she wasn't listening. Finally the Ensign excused himself and left her just outside the turbolift facing the bridge. Her eyes slid easily from one end of the curving room, taking in consoles and intent officers who stopped to salute her, finally her eyes rested on a familiar sight and her heart leaped even though she thought it was as high as it could go already.
Abigail walked briskly over to the Captain and welcomed her aboard with a wide smile and excited handshake, "Welcome Sir, It's been too long", Abby said joyously. "Your big comfy seat awaits you, care to try it out? A captain approved bridge usually gets the ship off to a great start"
The Lt Commander of Operations Daniel Steinbock smiled at the sight of his Captain. Even before Pennington took on the rank the cake loveing fool of a man always knew Alva was destined to achieve anything if she put her strength and mind to the job.
"I haven't seen you since our academy days." He took out another cupcake out as he put the tasty treat of the other snack tower he was building on his console out of sheer boredom. "I'm going to rest a lot easier with you on the job." He grins as his voice goes to a hush. "I almost thought I was going to get stuck with some bald creepy old guy with a bat'leth up his butt or something."
Pennington raised her eyebrows. "Somehow I don't think stacking cupcakes on your console is with in Starfleet regulations..." She crossed her arms and looked at the two sternly before a smile forced itself across her face and she grabbed them both into an undignified bear-hug. A couple ensigns filling in positions gave each other questioning looks.
"Watch out Capts!" The cake loving Lts face firmed up all serious business like. "Next thing you know you'll be preaching regulations left and right! Why we might even have to get you a fitting closecut to go along with that!" He nudges his Capt all buddy buddy like in the elbow. "I know a good Ferengi barber by the by." **You'll have to let him know how close you want the cut by you're ears though." Daniel sighs all painful like. "He's still getting used to our Human like ears." The Lt rolls his eyes not really believing his own words.
Abigail looked at Daniel, "Hey, woah, what was in those cucakes? You're very, erm...open today"
"Hm?" He looked at Abigail all confuseled like. "Just sugar or.." He paused. " I could have mistaken it for salt. That happens sometimes..." He stared at the roof all deep in thought of his culinary expertise.
"Uhuh.." Abby responded.."Hey, Me and Danny's shifts finish in about 20 minutes, do you wanna 'investigate' ten-forward with us?" She asked Alva cheekily.
The Captain struggled for breath over her laughter.
"Er...sorry I'm late." A man with a Doctor's lab coat on and still carrying his luggage skidded to a halt in front of Pennington, who looked pleasantly surprised.
"Ah excellent, I thought the Chief Medical Officer wasn't on board yet!"
"Er, well, actually I'm the counselor."
"Ah." The Captain said in a somewhat confused voice. "Well, I hope you don't let this lateness become a habit Mr..."
"Warner, Lieutenant Commander John L. Warner, I'm ship's counselor."
"Well it's a pleasure Lt. Commander, but I hope that you're on time next we meet."
"Aye, sir." He looked down at his luggage sheepishly.
Pennington sighed with a smile.
"You can put your things away, but report back with in 20 minutes."
"Ah aye, thank you!"
Pennington shook her head with a half smile as the Counselor hurried out before walking slowly to the Captain's chair and sitting down. She looked around at her crew for a moment. "Ensign, set course for Starbase 46, Warp Factor 7.....Engage." Always wanted to say that.

Captain's log, Stardate 2366.1.2. Upon arriving at Starbase 46 I have granted the main bridge crew shore leave while I meet and welcome several more important crew members.
Captain Alva Pennington stood at the docking station, hands folded behind her back, Counselor Warner at her side. The U.S.S. Aotearoa could be seen outside the towering windows beside them. A small group of officers stood before them.
A woman slightly taller than Pennington with long blond hair and piercing eyes was the first to approach. She wore the blue uniform of a medical officer and on her collar were the three pips of a commander. "Our chief medical officer I presume?" Pennington smiled, offering a hand. "Commander Alexander D'eon, sir. An honor to be serving with you." She shook her hand with a notably strong grip, perhaps a little too strongly, Pennington struggled not to wince, wondering how she could be the Chief Medical Officer.
Pennington turned from D'eon to two engineers. "Alright, which one of you is going to be Chief of Engineering?"

. John rocked back and forth on his heels, glancing around the place. He'd waited for this day but was nervous nonetheless. He also felt a little bit of a loss shaving his goatee. Even though he'd really wanted to keep it and it probably wouldn't have posed a problem, he thought it would be more... appropriate to shave it.

While most of the Starfleet officers left shore leave some select few crew where still a bored the Aotearoa One of these select few officers was Operations manager Lieutenant Commander Daniel Steinbock. and he was far to busy to concern himself with shore leave. "What if something or someone knocks over my tower!?" He would say. So Captain Alva Pennington let him have his way knowing it wasn't best to get in between a man and his cupcakes.
"Hmmm." The Lt. Commander. hummed at he inspected the small cupcake towers standing ontop of his console. He would always change the towers into a new design so it was very hard for anyone to fool him if they made the poor chance of trying to fix it if they accidentally messed up his cakey towers. For today the cupcakes were stacked in small towers and tall towers that amusingly reminded one of a kind of poll chart. "Perfect!" He smiled in glee before suddenly frowning as he shakes his head side to side. "Wait maybe if I..." He mumbled as he starts taking the cupcakes quite carefully from his workspace and soon puts them back in the same exact spot as they had been. "Much better?" A small purring voice was heard from behind the hard working cup cake stacker. "I think so...Yah..." The deep in thought Lnt. said as his wife. Shuichi Steinbock Lieutenant Commander Science officer laid her hands on his shoulders. "I'm all done here. You should join me for some shore leave Mr. Hard Worker." The Lnt. smiled as he starting taking down his tower to only put it back in the same manner it was before. "Sounds like an invite Shu. But..." Shuichi sat on the Lt. lap and gave him a innocent smile. "The towers can wait." The Lt. chuckled a couple of Yohoho's "You could have pulled up a chair You know love." She started running her hands through his hair. "But this is the best seat in the house." The Science Officer gave her Operations man a kiss before they made there way out. Leaving the poll chart like stacked cupcakes on the desk just as they had been before.

Abigail came up behind Alva in the docking bay, wondering if there were any way to start a conversation properly since the Captain was a bit under pressure welcoming the new crew members and trying not to make a bad impression.
"How's it going? I hear some of the new crewman are new to space, don't you agree we probably should have got a more adept crew?"
It probably wasn't the best topic to start out a conversation with, but Abigail posed the question anyway.
"I suppose it's a big relief to have D'eon on our side though, I do hope nothing bad and 'sickbay-requiring' happens to me while she's in charge down there"

Pennington raised her eyebrows in reply to her first officer and finished welcoming Chief Engineer John Davis and Transporter chief Arturo Lombardi. She turned to the last newcomer, a Vulcan with a gaze with intensity to match D'eon's. "You must be our new Flight Controller, Nao'po." The only Vulcan on the roster. The girl moved to attention. " Lieutenant Junior Grade Nao'po reporting for duty, Captain." "At ease, at ease. Well, first order, find your quarters and get settled. You're part of our crew now, get comfortable. Don't worry, I'll put you to work soon enough." Nao'po stood, listening intently still. "You're excused." Pennington chuckled a little as the Vulcan left quickly. She stretched a little, and looked to Rush and Warner. "So what now? Drinks anyone? We still have some shore time." She grinned in relief.

"For the love of gold pressed latinum." The very drunk Ferengi barber mumbled in disgust at the sight of some the Aotearoa crew members walking into the bar. "Serving a bored a ship full of Hew-mons..." Zorn had to stop for a minute. For he believed his stomach had caught some sickness at merely speaking of that species name. "This must be some kind of punishment from the Blessed Exchequer no doubt." He moaned. "Where did I go wrong?" He closed his eyes knowing very well what led him to this way of life. "I never should have trusted him." He balled his sharp nails into a fist. "It's his fault not mine!" He tired to conceal his growing rage for that man. Then low and behold that very man made his way to his little darkly lit end of the table. "Zorn! How is my favorite hair cutting friend doing today?" The sharp toothed Ferengi scowled at the Lnt. "Rules of Acquistion number twenty one, Never place friendship above profit." Daniel laughed happily as he raised his hand to a server. "Oh don't be like Zorn! You and I are true blue buddy's!" Zorn glared at Starfleet officer sternly. "Don't get me wrong Daniel. Our company together has been very profitable. and I very well much enjoy our system. But were business associates and nothing more than that. Understood." The Operations officer felt quite hurt by that choice of words but did his best to not let it show in his voice. "I'm sorry to hear that Zorn." The barber moaned as he knew another pain stacking headache would be upon him. "Why." The Lt. looked at the distressed businessman. "Zorn what's up? You really look bad today. The drinks aren't that bad are they?" The Barber glared at his empty bottle as if he could will it to explode in a blaze by mere emotion. "Why this ship." The Lt. spoke as he inspected his drink with a few pokes by his thumb. "It's a good ship and a lot of peeps could go with a good trim. What more could a barber ask for?" The Ferengi covered his elaborately large ears as if they had been violated quite painfully. "It's fully of grubby little Hew-mons that's what is wrong!" The Lt. laughed as he drank from his glass of Strawberry pink shake. "But I'm a grubby "Hew-mon too Zorn." The Barber fumbled with his words as he tired to speak his excuse. "You're different Daniel. These-" He held in a curse at image of those creatures passing the table. "These people." He nearly felt faint at stating them like that. "I don't know them. I don't trust them. What do we know about them. Hm? Nothing that's what!" Daniel tired to wave the Ferengi's concern away. But the frustrated barber was in a mighty ranting mood. "Theirs to many risks in this plan for my liking!" The Lt. shrugged as he sipped at his drink. "Rules of Acqusition number sixty two,-" "The riskier the road, the greater the profit." Zorn mumbled fully knowing all twenty hundred eighty five of the Rules of Acqustition. "Just relax ok buddy? Rest assured I have everything taken care of ok?" The Barber snorted in half amusement of his partner's "excuse". "It's bad enough you have you're Women running around in clothes but now were off taking orders from one as our "Captain"?!" The Lt. once happy eyes glowed with a soul shivering coldness. "Do not speak ill will to my Captain. Ever. Zorn. Do I make myself clear." Zorn sighed as he tired to calm himself as a sudden shiver rang down what some would call his spine. "Think nothing of it friend. For it is already forgotten." The warm glow shinned in the Lt. eyes once more. and any sign of that harsh coldness disappeared from this quadrant in a blink of an eye. "Good! Now let's get something to eat. Oh! I heard they make a fierce pizza here! We could eat some with Shu too Zorn!" Zorn shook his head as he began to excuse himself from the table. "Not right now Daniel. Maybe some other time. I just feel like having some alone time alright?" Daniel smiled as he waved goodbye to his friend. "See you later Zorn!" The grumpy and foul mooded Ferengi made his way out of the bar while repeating the forty eight Rule of Acquisition in his head. Remember well Zorn my friend, The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife.

Shuichi was just getting off her duty tour off today and was heading towards the turbo lift. Today she was working on decoding many Documented researches, and was happy to have gotten more then half way through " Nyan! So glad theres no more to do today" She said as the lift stopped at the 3rd deck which lies her and her husbands quarters.
"Welcome home, My Master." Daniel sang as his wife entered the room. The maid dressed husband/ Lieutenant Commander Operations manager smiled as he held a balanced dish in one hand. "Would you care for some cake?" He opened the lip off from the tray to expose the tasty sweet treat.
Her face shaded to cherry red at the sight of her husband. "Yes my Love" said shuichi blushing furiously as she took a seat at there cute Little coffee table. "Daniel I was wondering?" her face hiding behind her bangs as she was about to make a request. "Would you like to go to the holodeck Tonight?".
"Sounds like fun. Any certain simulation in mind my sweet?" As if on cue at that word. The maidafied Lt. Commander brought some cake supported by a fork close to his lovers lips. "Say ahhh now lover." The cakeman smiled in happy contempt.
She blushed as she opened her mouth receiving the sweet cake. She felt frosting on her lips and was about to wipe it off but felt her Husband gently cup her cheek and was leaning forward.
"Let me take of that my darling." Shu's cross dressing husband whispered in her ear as he expertly started cleaning his wife up with his tongue.
Fidgeted a lil with Daniels skirt, blushing her head off as she felt his hand rubbing against her thighs. "I was thinking of either going To the beach or having a moonlight stroll in the park in the holodeck"
"Hm so it's a choice between you in beachwear or a possible picnic in the park..." The maids head started to hurt from having to decide on just one of the win opportunity's.

Stevey entered ten-forward quietly, a little nervous with the new setting. Some faces were familiar, he didn't really know them but had seen them before. One of the pre-existing science officers had told him to spend the last while here in hopes of meeting new people. Problem was, he was too nervous to start a conversation with anyone. Lucky for him, a vaguely familiar smiling engineer walked up to him.
. "Hey there! I'm afraid I don't remember your name, but I do remember you. It's gonna be crazy being on a mission for the first time, huh?" John smiled wide and patted him on the back. "If you don't remember, my name is John. Remind me of yours?"
. Stevey smiled a bit and moved away from John slightly, "I'm Stephen Joseph. A lot of time has passed since I saw you before. I'm excited to work on the ship but very nervous," Stevey pointed out the obvious, speaking rather quietly.
. "Bah, aren't we all? So, you're the only one of your species to have joined starfleet, right? That's pretty neat," John said with a chuckle. Steve didn't hide his nervousness.
. "That is correct. My siblings and I were told we may not return if we left our home world, but I did anyway," Stevey rubbed his hands together idly.

Alva smiled and waved her hand dismissively to the bar tender. "Just water for me thanks." She sat calmly until they were out of sight then winked at Abby and pulled a flask from the med-kit at her side. She smelled the strong drink with a grin and downed a swig.
"Phew, how they ever drink more than that I'll never know!" her face flushed a little.

As the whiskey sunk into Abby's system further, she swayed and wheeled around to face the rest of ten forward. Leaning on the bar she spotted a new crewman of the rather attractive variety entering the room.
She walked gingerly over to him, not knowing just how drunk her outward appearance was. "Hello young sir, would you be open to having a drink with me?"
The Ensign replied, "Uhh, I'm sorry Ma'am, but I think you've had a little too much, would you like me to take you back to your quarters?"
"I would like you very much to do that mister" Abby stated raising and eyebrow in a mischeivious manner.
"Uhm, okay...But I'll go get some assistance first Ma'am" He added
"Ohh you don't have t-" She retaliated, but he was already half way over the other side of the room by then. "Damn young ones, wouldn't know an attractive officer if one came up and sat on their heads."
While Abby was struggling to stay upright when being stabilised by two security officers, a shadowy, dark haired figure watched from a far corner of the room where no lights shone, and for good reason; they had been purposely cut.

Alva laughed and shook her head, well her crew was off to a good start. She just hoped none of the new officers would come in and see her first officer like this...yet, somehow the idea was kind of funny.
She took another swig of ale from her flask, watching with an amused expression. For some reason she felt lonely, and was reminded of why she avoided alcohol. She pushed her emotions back again and tried to decide whether or not to step in and 'rescue' Abby.

. Stevey felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up when he observed the other crew members. He'd heard of bars but never intended to set foot in one, but it seemed he'd done just that. He heard a laugh from John.
. "You should see yourself. Just relax, it'll make things a lot easier if you're not all tense-like," John said and put an arm over his shoulders, which was awkward because he was a little bit shorter than Stevey. "Now you come sit down and I'll choose something for you to drink."
. "It won't be alcoholic I hope," Stevey said nervously as John lead him to a table.
. "Don't worry I won't be getting you drunk on your first day of work," John laughed. "Chill, you're gonna give yourself a heart attack. Now you tell me, how did you make it through the academy with an attitude like this?"
. "During training people aren't very open to interaction outside of studies, I believe because I am unable to interact easily with others I'm afraid of being troublesome," Stevey pointed out.
. "Well, that's gonna be a problem to you. If you're too scared to talk to them, they won't talk to you. I'm not gonna force you to go interact or anything, but really, if you want to make progress you just gotta calm down and try." John stood up, "Now I'm gonna go get those drinks, don't die while I'm gone please."
. "Yes, sir." Stevey glanced at John when he laughed, then shrugged and directed his attention to the windows.

The drunken Ferengi Zorn made his way past his barbershop's entrance. At the left of the doorway a Barber's pole spun it's color's of red, blue, and white. Many people found this sign alluring as a classic sign of the past or whatever. But for Zorn it was just a shops sign that spun bright colors around in a optical illusion. He could careless if people thought it was "pretty" or "classic" as long as it brought in the latinum.
"I'm home."
He mumbled grumpily.
If you can it that.
He sat himself on one of the chair's facing a large glass wall that made little rippling effects now and then like you would see after throwing something into a body of water. Against the other walls there sofas and chairs for customers waiting for there trim. At the shelves and tables there lay various holo news, novels, music, and other data pads to entertain his waiting customers. A few planters sat at tables and the corners of the shop. Most of them supported big heavy leaves like that which you would see on a more tropical world. The leaves themselves glowed a bright purple with little gold lights flickering about them like fireflies. Zorn himself still thought nothing "beautiful" about them. But he did have to admit the heavy leafy plants gave out a sweet honey like aroma that teased at you're senses making you feel like you're tongue had been touched by a rich honeycomb like flavor that warmed up you're body and put you at ease. Sadly this effect seemed to not effect Zorn himself. But who could deny having such a peaceful environment? It would make his customers happy, peaceful, and at ease.
"Rules of Acquisition number thirty five, Peace is good for business."
Zorn grinned a smile of sharp pointy teeth as he forced himself to relax in his chair. He scanned his personal data pad for something to amuse himself. The Ferengi barber finally decided on reading the current news text as he tired to sniff out the aroma of peace.
