Stardate 2370.02.9.1 The U.S.S. Aotearoa is now docked at the Sol Space Station for a routine inspection and maintenance scan. I have just had the honor of announcing to an excited crew that the U.S.S. Enterprise-D is also currently docked at the Station, and Captain Jean-Luc Picard himself has offered to allow myself and several of my officers to visit the Federation's prized flagship. With my first officer Commander Abigail Rush away on a leave of absence, I have chosen Operations manager Lieutenant Commander Daniel Steinbock, Chief engineer Lieutenant Commander John Davis, Chief medical officer Alexander D'eon, Ship Counselor Lieutenant Commander John L. Warner, and our newest Science Officer, Ensign Stephen Joseph to accompany me.
Captain Pennington couldn't stop adjusting her hair, and when she could pull her hands down from her bun she was tugging at her uniform.
"Relax." D'eon said, with out turning to her.
"You're going to pull a hole in that uniform."
Alva gave her a look, but remained silent, knowing she was probably right. When she felt a bit more relaxed they finally materialized onto the transporter of the U.S.S. Enterprise she thought she might faint, or fall over, or say something stupid in front of-"
"Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Enterprise." Captain Picard smiled and extended a hand.
Alva nodded and shook it as firmly as she could.
"Captain Alva Pennington of the U.S.S. Aotearoa."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, I heard about your remarkable performance in delivering the antitoxin that saved the people of Cygnus 14!"
"Oh, it was nothing compared to what I've heard about the Enterprise!"
"You flatter us. Allow me to introduce my first Officer, Commander William Riker, and Ship Counselor Deanna Troi." They nodded, and Alva nodded politely back. She could have sworn that Riker winked but she wasn't sure if she was imagining it. Odd bearded fellow he was.
"Unfortunately my first officer is away on leave, but allow me to introduce Operations manager Lieutenant Commander Daniel Steinbock, Chief engineer Lieutenant Commander John Davis, Chief medical officer Alexander D'eon, Ship Counselor Lieutenant Commander John L. Warner, and our newest Science Officer, Ensign Stephen Joseph." She beamed at her nervous crew, her own nervousness subsiding into sheer excitement and enthusiasm.
