Stardate 2367.4.11. The Aotearoa has just entered the earth space dock where we will be receiving two new recruits. One of whom is the daughter of the android Lietenant Commander Data, of the Starship flagship, Enterprise. The other is a security officer who will be taking the place of my Security officer Abigail Rush in her absence. I am greatly looking forward to meeting them both. However, the idea of how my crew will react to their new android crew member is one that troubles me. I can only hope that they are as open minded as I believe they are...
Captain Pennington clasped her hands behind her back. Smiling, she awaited the arrival of her two newest crew members. Counselor Warner, who stood beside her, could tell that she was a little uneasy as to how to act around an android, but more than that, so curious he personally hoped she wouldn't make an utter fool of herself in front of the newcomer...
Verity blinked as transporter room three of the U.S.S. Aotearoa came into view. Her head tilted to the side slightly as she took in the view. It looked precisely as in the technical readouts she had uploaded into her memory before arriving. The visual layout of the area satisfactory, Verity stepped down from the transporter pad.
"Captain." She greeted, offering her hand, as was human custom.
"Lieutenant Verity, it is an honor. I'm a great admirer of your father's work, but I'm sure you'll be able to make me even more proud than you'll make him."
"I am sorry to inform you, Captain, but my father is an android. He is incapable of feeling any emotion, as am I."
Pennington laughed. "You'll do fine, now get to work. This is Lieutenant Commander John Davis, he'll be your boss in Engineering. He may not look like much, but he actually knows what he's doing." She winked at John teasingly.
Pennington turned to the glittering transporter pad, ready to greet the new Security Officer.
