"Now hailing Captain" Shuichi eyes widen as her attention reverted back to her duties. "There's Interference opening a communication channel..." Then her mind went blank as she suddenly shook from a chill, as she turned to look at her "Captain!" She rose from her chair. "May I please check on my husband" her voice was raising in worry, She was trying to be collective of her feelings trying to focus on the logic and how she must complete her duties. But her heart was racing her mind as she tried to block from clouding up from focus but she yearned for her husband more then ever at this moment.

"Shuichi...I'm sorry, but I just need you to hang in there a bit longer. You're our best communications officer. The lives of countless people will be saved if you can just get that transmission through...I'm counting on you. Do this for me, and then I'll let you go look after your husband alright?"
Pennington turned to Warner, who was covering his head from a spark shower and apparently fell during the last jolt.
"Oi John, you're not doing anything. Go check on Lieutenant Commander Steinbock will you?" "She looks fine to me, Captain." "Not that one." "I know, I know, just trying to calm the situation. The crew seems to be suffering a lot of stress and anxie-" "Shut up, Warner." "Aye, sir!" He hurried away to find Daniel.
"Now...can you do this?" Pennington asked Shuichi gently.

She closed her eyes for a bit then took a breath nodding at the captain. Regaining her composure and more as her expression was starting to resemble that of certain famous vulcan. Dashing away like wild fire her fingers hit the keys of the console as she concentrated on reconfiguring the frequencies. "Captain I have successfully opened a channel" She then adjusted her ear piece as she hailed. "Starfleet command! this is the USS Harogate we are under attack. Initiate evacuation of near by planets and starships." Shuichi removed her ear piece placing into her pocket as she rose from her chair once more. "Captain, permission to leave post?"

"You're free to go Shuichi. I'll remember your bravery today." She patted her on the arm and smiled. "Now go find that lucky hubby of yours and give him one for me." She winked and motioned a lower ranking officer to fill Shuichi's post. She found herself reminiscing for the briefest moment, but it was only less than a second before the blare of the alarm brought her back to the moment.
"Captain, the firing...it's stopped." Nao'po reported. "What?" Pennington moved behind her chair. "What's the cause?" "Unknown, Captain."

The reason for the lack of firing soon became clear. The borg - both sets - had begun boarding.
Groups of five appeared all over the Harrogate. Some had reddish-purple-pink energy signatures, and the 'normal' ones had blue-green. Both groups tried to assimilate the other and everyone else around them. Well, the reddish-purple-pink offered first and moved to hug crew members.
It seemed the borg had figured out their shield frequencies. Tractor beams were also launched from the regular borg cube and tried to reel the Harrogate in.
In the meantime, a Romulan cruiser tried to hail the Harrogate...
If Starfleet got the message, they did not respond. The regular borg continued to jam all long distance frequencies.
The 'other' borg changed their advertising to "Are you unable to speak with your loved ones? Is communication a problem? Well, worry no more! Join the collective and you'll never be apart from those you love again! You're only a message away from being with them forever!"
No doubt Q was watching from somewhere.

"Captain, Romulan War-Bird on approach." Verity reported as she kicked two borgs into one another with strength unfitting to her size.
"Now? The fools! They don't stand any better chance than us!"
"They've taken main engineering." Nao'po reported, ducking behind her chair and shooting any borg that came close, only to have them adapt to her weapon.
"Orders, sir?"
"Captain?"
"Try hailing the Romulan War-Bird."
"Sir, all communications are jammed."
Pennington struggled to think while avoiding the snares of some borgs and the hugs of another.
"Verity, Nao'po, see what you can do about rotating your phaser frequencies to counter the problem of the borg's shields adapting."
It wasn't looking like they'd have much time for tinkering with a constant flow of borg on the bridge.
"We can't let them take engineering." She said, more to herself than to anyone else.
"They're already there, Captain." Nao'po replied simply.
"I know!...We have to get it back."

The borg (the green-blues) fired another barrage and took down the shields of the Harrogate. The other borg weren't firing on the Harrogate and continued to spread their message of 'love' and 'hugs'. In fact, the only ones they were firing on were the other borg. Having crippled the Harrogate's shields, the regular borg turned their attention on the other borg - and the two continued to pummel each other. They seemed to be evenly matched. Both fronts of the cubes were heavily damaged.
What was curious though, was when the borg assimilated each other, the energy signatures changed to correspond with their faction - although it took a while to recalibrate!
A Romulan war-party beamed over while the ship's shields were down - directly onto the bridge. There were seven of them, six ringing the leader and all armed with disruptor rifles. The centre one wasn't firing at all, but rather standing there arrogantly. She had the mark of a commanding office - and the others knelt outwards around her.
"You," she snarled at Pennington, her footsoldiers clearing the bridge of all borg, "this is your doing. You will offer your surrender, or we will leave you to the borg."
What she wasn't saying was her own ship was damaged. Not that they would know this unless their scans broke through the borg jam.

Pennington straightened cautiously in front of the new comer and glanced at her in a moment of surprise. Suddenly she burst into laughter and hugged the Romulan Commander before her shocked companions could react.
"Jolan'Tru! It's good to see you!" She said in Romulan, laughing in relief. "This means at least your transporters work! And don't even bother bluffing I know you're in trouble too. Maybe we can sort something out after all!" She wiped a tear from her eye, half believing her own comment and slightly wondering why she was laughing.

The Romulan stood there stoically, then pinched her. It wasn't a vulcan pinch, and it wasn't on her neck. Most women might have reacted 'Ow, motherf-'. It was quite the twist, and would bring most down to their knees.
The other Romulans were pointing their weapons at the crew and began moving towards their stations...
More Romulans beamed on board; more than one would have expected for a simply boarding party...
The Borg had forgotten/ignored the bridge for now...

Gunning's jaw dropped and had a weapon not been aimed at her, would have made to strike the Romulan Commander. How dare she touch Pennington! Her beloved captain, the object of her... Ahem anyway, it wasn't very nice! The bunny ears, slightly charred in places from the sparks, folded back like cat ears as she waited for something, anything that she could do to assist her captain.

"Susse-thrai!" Pennington winced a moment, then sprang to her feet, twisting the Commander's gun into her own grip and pulling it to her throat.
"Hey guys! Who's going to shoot me and kill the Commander in the process? Though you could join me as well...full crew, an actual working ship..." She twisted the nuzzle of the disruptor into her neck. "Or, you could be a good Commander and join me instead of keeping up this charade that you're the one with the advantage."

"I am." The commander's voice was calm, deathly cold in fact, and she was completely unfazed by the fact a disruptor was at her throat. She eyed Pennington with more consideration, though her men did not move. The disruptor was beamed out of Pennington's hands, and two more Romulans beamed in a short way behind her - with rifles pointed at her.
The commander dispassionately backhanded the captain, and her free-hand shot out and pinched the human again - this time between the legs. kriheis'ei (born from same-gender parents, of parents too stupid to know they needed 2 genders to make babies.)
The same slapping hand caught Pennington's jaw; her moves were quicksilver, far faster than any human, and far stronger, but at the same time, oddly gentle. It wasn't nearly enough to break Pennington's jaw, and she easily could have. (An enraged Vulcan in a pon-far would have about the Romulan's strength... should the commander choose to use it...)
...Then she kissed her. Passionately. Her lips pressed against her soft mouth, and - Q censored the rest with a commercial break. BA NA NA NAAA NA... NA NA NA NAAA NA NAAA, NA NA...
...
...
Her grip on Pennington had not faltered, and held her upright. Her eyes were locked on the captain's, and were intrigued.
What on earth was going on?

"Captain," Nao'po, who was being held captive just to the right of Pennington, spoke up.
"Perhaps she finds your accent sexually attractive and it is in some way-"
"...now is not the time Lieutenant...and I have an accent?" She struggled against the Romulan, blushing in surprise and frustration.

That was it. Gun or not, that was simply too much for the little first officer to bare... ((LMAO Pun XD )) "What the bloody hell is this all about?!" Gunning screeched, face a brilliant red in embarrassment and anger. She was practically squirming in place and couldn't even look at her captain now. None of this made any sense and she was beginning to wish she had just stayed in the shower that morning...

The commander pulled back slightly, her eyes still intrigued and oddly longingly. Perhaps Pennginton was an exquisite beauty. "Vreenak" she snapped, "Secure that."
Vreenak moved towards Nao'po, rifle pointing towards her. Then, against Romulan judgement and sense, he did as his commander did - only, he forced Nao'po against the console and ran his hand along her cheek. The rifle was pressed under her chin, but there was attraction in his deep brown eyes.
Had the 'love' borg got to them too?
The commander, meanwhile, had gone back to her former activity with the captain and kissed her again. Then she breathed, "Let's discuss terms, shall we?"
Several more Romulans beamed onto the ship in various places.
The Commander's hand reached and squeezed Pennington's. The First Officer was ignored.
