Gunning paused mid step, a skeptical look of surprize on her face, and looked over her shoulder. Yep, there was indeed a romulan clinging to her arm. Putting on her best pouty face she fixed Khev with a pleading look. "Daarling, I have things to do." She whined cutely. "Follow me? You can help us. But quickly, the borg are about to blow up our ship."

"Will you wear the sparkles?" His look was so adoring that only a being as heartless and soulless as Q (and Picard) could say 'no'. There was unadulterated, pure, devotion found only in the most heartfelt of fangirls - (and fanboys). He grabbed his disruptor rifle and insisted on taking point, van and sides - trying to cover the two at the same time. No borg would harm the sparkles!

Pennington kissed down the Romulan's cheek to her neck. "Our deal will be sealed, but first sahe'lagga, we have the little problem with those borg cubes out there."
"Commander Gunning." Verity stated, pausing in their march to the Captain's ready room. "Though I find your desire to speak with the Captain valid, I do not think that this is the correct course of action given our current situation. I believe in the case of a 'hostile takeover' such as this, it would be best if we focused our efforts on liberating the Engineering section." As she spoke she peeled the ship's counselor from his position (making out with a particularly giggly Romulan) and dragged him into the conversation huddle. "You will assist us in taking back Engineering will you not, Counselor Warner?" "Could do, but you see, I'm in the middle of some hostile negotiations myself and I really think I ought to-" "Counselor regulation 3.-" "Alright alright, just ... please, no regulation preaching." He waved at the giggling Romulan and gave a win smile, before turning back to Verity. "So what are we doing again?"

T'Rehu Dharvanek did not reply immediately, but her fingers caressed Pennington's inner thigh and beyond, slipping her hand under Pennington's (normal) uniform, "Your word on it, as a Starfleet officer and captain?" She leaned in close and brushed the captain's lips with her own, then the tip of her nose trailed down Pennington's cheek as she ran her eyes down the human. "Give me your unbreakable pledge and we'll deal with the borg... together. All..." her eyes lingered, still hungry, intrigued and ever-so-curious, "for you." She smiled, "Captain."
Elsewhere, the giggling Romulan Centurion Warner was making out with straightened his uniform and picked up his disruptor rifle, "I'm coming too, darling! You can't abandon me!" he giggled, "And then we'll have to continue your 'analysis', won't we? Human emotions are so much fun when you're pretending to be a Klingon! I never knew humans were like this! I never knew we could be together like this! Oh, you're so naughty! Making me like you this way! You'll look darling in hotpants in hot pink, lace and silk-satin, sweet-thing." He winked, "And I so want to try this 'thong' of yours..."
The forcefield on the bridge turbo lift failed, and three borg stepped through! The turrets took them down. Go Go Romulan Turrets!

A series of emotions flickered across Gunning's face as Verity spoke, obviously conflicted. The desire to go kill the thing that was no doubt pawing away at her captain was being overridden by the need to save their ship...
Oh the conflict!
After a moment Gunning stomped her foot, pointed a finger at the android and said, quite loudly and clearly so it could be kept for later reference, "We're going to save the ship first, but the moment I'm done, I'm dragging the captain into the shower! Got it?!" Her eye twitched almost in emphasis, and she stormed off in the direction of Enginerring, cursing under her breath in French as she dragged Kveh along behind her like a puppy on a leash.

Khev's eyes went so wide they almost fell out, and tears welled up. He felt so alone. So neglected, and abandoned; sparkles would leave him! He had found true love! How cold, how cruel; what mean fate he suffered! (Even if her ears were fat)
Warner's Centurion Rommy started sobbing hysterically at the beauty of the moment; the tragic, dramatic angst! What a beautiful, beautiful story this was!

Gunning whipped around quickly and kissed Khev's cheek. "Shut up." Was all she said, continuning the march. No time to deal with his drama now... she could always use him later after all, when the captain kicked her back out of the shower. "Quickly now, I'll take care of you when this is over! Onward!"

Mm of course sahe'lagga. Pennington moaned into her kiss. Pressing into her, she lifted her leg around her slightly, leaning into the kiss until she reached the phaser hidden in her desk. With out releasing the kiss, she managed to twist the phaser around and stun the Romulan. She straightened as the she fell and took her disruptor. "My ship." She hurried out into the hall, shoving on a belt and filling it with phaser rifles and explosives. Perfect. One of the 'normal' borg was wandering down the corridor toward Engineering. "Are you lonely?" She asked, smirking at the stupid line she had been forced to endure for nearly an hour now. She stood by, waiting until it reached forward and injected her with the substance they were using to assimilate the crew. She felt her joints stiffen, but the Harrogate disappeared around her and she found herself inside the Cube.

Verity watched the strange scenario before her, head tilting in concentration. " I believe the Captain will have more important matters to attend to than personal hygiene when this is over Commander." Warner struggled to straighten the lab coat he wore. "We need to get to Engineering so that I can reroute control of the ship to one of the consoles there, and hopefully in doing so, liberate our ship from borg control."
Gunning rolled her eyes at Verity's reply, grabbing Khev's hand. "I'll explain later. We don't have much time." She was back in work mode, and it was time to save their ship. She led the way to Engineering, pausing at the door to give her Romulan a purpose. "You like the shiny shiny, yes?" she smirked, leaning against him suggestively. "Stay here and guard the door and you can play with the shiny all you like when I get back. Kay?" Bouncing up on her toes, she sealed the deal with a kiss and bolted to Verity's side.
Verity would never understand human behavior. She readied her phaser and waited for her superior’s signal before entering Main Engineering.
Gunning readied her's as well, stepping up to the android's side. "Ready?" She was almost shaking now.
"Yes commander, on your signal. I have already analyzed the process of ‘breaking in’ and accessing the computer database given 171 possible outcomes and con-"
"Yes yes Verity, your father would be proud now can we please get on with it. There is a high amount of tension in this room." Warner smirked, readying his own phaser. "Damnit, I'm a counselor not a red shirt." Taking a deep breath, Gunning said, "Alright then, lets make it so. For Pennington!" It was enough to bring the grin back to her face as lead them in, ready to shoot.
"Try to resist shooting when you can." Verity called above the sound of the fight. "The phaser frequency rotator is only good for 12 shots." She launched herself at one of the consoles and her fingers immediately began to fly over the keys, encrypting the computer to free it from borg control before beginning the process of moving full control to Engineering.
Gunning took out a couple Borg, whining the whole way. They were like zombies to her, freaky, scary zombies that had to be taken out with A HEADSHOT! She ducked and dodged behind things, feeling terrible when she hit an assimilated redshirt in the process, but there was no time to dwell on it. She had to keep Verity safe for now, even if it meant losing a few crew members in the process.
Warner ducked under a swing from a borg, jumping back up again he punched it hard in the jaw...only to flinch back in pain as the borg stood staring at him, unfazed. He had to give in and shoot it. "Hurry up Verity." Verity didn't answer, her eyes and fingers flickered across the screen at inhuman speeds, the encryption code was working, but they wouldn't surrender the bridge with out a fight.
With a dive and roll that would have totally failed her any other time, Gunning managed to get to Warner's side, kicking the borg that was about to flank him directly in the head, knocking it back. She was starting to get frustrated and it was showing. "Any time now, V!"
"Thanks!" Warner managed, bashing another over the head with his gun. "Accessing..." Verity answered. "Almost...I have it commander!" As soon as she spoke the words a borg impaled her with it's claw-like arm. "Verity!" Warner yelled as she fell, sparks flickering at her chest.
Gunning rushed to Verity's side, shooting the borg that had struck her friend. She quickly took over the console, capturing control of the Harrogate.
"Verity..." Warner dropped to a knee beside them both, his face white and his usual calm expression gone. It was hard to tell if the fact that his friend had been struck down, or the wires and sparks falling from her was disturbing him more. Verity stiffened and ceased to move. "Damn it…no..." He cradled her as Gunning took back control of the ship.

A borg's head slammed against a medical bed and Alexander switched to another phaser. It was a good thing that the ship's chief medical officer had so much combat experience...though it was battered and littered with the bodies of humans and borg, sickbay was still (somewhat) functional.
Alexander flicked a golden strand of hair from her face and tapped her combadge. "Captain, we have a bit of a problem." Nothing. "Captain?" ... "Computer, show me the location of Captain Pennington." "Captain Pennington is currently not on board the USS Herrogate." "...What on earth?"

Khev, who had been obeying his sparkle-sparkly's orders perfectly heard the shouts from the room beyond. He was faced with a dire choice: aid his precious, or obey her and keep guard. He had already shot two borg; one died chanting in a slow, monotone, 'lo-lone-lonely, ar-are you...' and finally collapsed with a spasm. The second one's head exploded.
The decision was agonising. Naturally, he disobeyed. However, before he did, he retrieved a random redshirt's phaser and set it up as a turret. However, he was smarter than just to modulate it to shoot; he stole one of the 'I love you' borg's powercells and rammed it in the phaser's energy bank. Jerry-rigging it was dangerous, but it would be far more effective - if it didn't blow up. Even if it did, it would serve it's purpose, and he wasn't about to stick around for the phaser to fire - and for the alien power source to surge through the rifle. He was smarter than that. He was no red shirt.
...So he went to save his precious sparkles. The Romulan disruptor was far more deadly than the Federation phaser; any fool knew that. It would destroy the borg much better. Romulans were superior in every way. Their empire would live forever! ...Except sparkles. They lacked sparkles.
Khev dived in, and shot two borg, the last two, and stood ready to defend against more.
Then one from behind clunked him in a rough, miscalculated embrace. 'Are you lo-' was the last thing he heard as the world went black.
...Outside, the phaser rifle exploded, scattering at least eight borg in every direction. Limbs flew everywhere. Thankfully, the doors had closed - until a limb flew through it.
...Back on the bridge, the borg broke through the forcefield, interrupting the 'ear-nibbling-kissing-licking-adoring' session Nao'po found herself 'subjected' to. 'Her' Romulan loved her ears, treasuring her for her, as no other had ever done before. Absently, he fired his rifle without really looking (the shiny control panels were good for something! Reflections! And Romulans were superior to mundane humans), and took down the first two in a single green burst of deadly disruptor energy. Then the ear-kissing continued. He would make Nao-po moan like no human ever could. He fired again. A 'I love you borg' exploded. ...Perhaps he had set the charge a little too high. They weren't vaporised; they were exploded in an orgy of limbs and cybernetics. Well, salvaging technology was useful, and who wouldn't want that ever-so-cool laser eye as a riflepiece? Or headpiece? Man, that would look so awesome, but would it impress the beautifully eared Nao'po? He just didn't know, but he would find out. And borg breastplate would make awesomecool armour for the fancydress the ship was sure to have. Federation types liked parties; he knew that much at least. Genuine borg. Hah! He would go with his beautifully eared Vulcan and make everyone see how beautiful her ears were. Then they would feel so jealous and she would be where she belonged: admired, illogical though it was. No other ever had such beauty. She was gorgeous. Not like some rounded-eared human, and their ugly lobes. So very ugly. Another borg died by his rifle.

Gunning heard Khev fall behind her, and whipped around quickly. "HE'S NOT LONELY! HE HAS SPARKLES, GET OFF!" She had no clue why she suddenly felt protective of her romulan pet, but it didn't stop her from shooting the borg between the eyes and kicking it off of him. She knealed down and checked him for signs of life. Yeah, he'd survive, but there was no time to try to tend to him now. She returned to the controls, trying to bring the ships sheilds back up and get their weapons systems back online, promising to herself to tend to her new pet as best as possible later. He'd tried to help them after all.

Khev opened his eyes slowly, wondering what had happened. Then he stared up at Gunning, past the sparkles and at her. There was something in his eyes, something amazed, awestruck and tortured - with longing and loathing. Self loathing, and loathing of her for what she was, what he was.
For a while, he simply watched her, staring. Staring at her, studying her every motion, studying the ship's code and plan. He was a quick study - and no doubt trained in espionage.
Then, sooner than was wise, he rose to his feet, gently pushed her to one side, handing the fallen disruptor rifle into her hand. He took over, and his superior Romulan mind, more Vulcan at that moment than 'human', started tapping on the keypad. He might not know much about the Federation, but he knew about Romulan technology.
He re-routed the shields. He entered Romulan passcodes. He channelled taceon emissions into the deflector dish - and shot them into space, creating a mirage of an entire Romulan battlefleet about to decloak around the Borg - both of them. Finally, he altered the phasers. He changed the energy input and output; he drew power from the warp core to charge them. Potentially unstable, but far more lethal. Then he altered the containment shielding, drawing power from the engines to contain the engines, and drawing power from the plasma banks and life support from the shuttlebays and astrophysics. No one used astrophysics anyway...
Finally, he stabilised the impulse engines and the ship could move again! They couldn't go to warp speed, because he had used the warp coils to power the phasers. If Gunning was watching, she would no doubt be awed, but also know exactly what he had done. The holodecks had also been stripped of their power. "The phasers will last a few shots, six at most," Khev said quietly. He was the weapons officer and formally an engineer, though he had not revealed this fact until now. "I redirected shields to protect the bridge and engineering. We can take maybe three hits before they go down, but they'll have to hit the ship's shields to take these down. We're... as secure as I can make us," his lips twitched a slight smile, "human." It seemed whatever was bothering him had faded - for now.

The moment Khev's hands moved from the console Gunning shoved herself between him and it, kissing him passionately. "You're brilliant!" she squeaked happily, turning in his arms to look down at his work. "Six shots? That won't be enough, will it?" She asked. "We'll need something stronger if we plan to destroy those cubes... You're so brilliant! I never would have thought to... oh wow..."
Leaning back against Khev, Gunning inspected what was available to drain power from, trying not to get distracted by the comfort having something solid and warm to support her was bringing. Yep, definitely going to reward him now...

The Romulan mused for a moment, setting his mind to the new challenge ahead - and completely forgetting the shock and stunned blinking that had occurred at her sudden and intimate kiss. The kiss he forgot to return he was so surprised. Then, his eyes narrowed and the beginnings of an evil half smile appeared. Twisting around, he turned his back on the First Officer and began tapping again.
Gunning saw what he was extending the length of time the phasers took; it was no longer just a blast, but a continuous beam. A cutting beam. The forward phasers would fire - and continue to fire, channelling their firepower into a slicing edge - an edge strong enough to cut through the Borg armour and through the already damaged hull. After all the cubes had been firing on each other constantly; they couldn't run, and would be vulnerable, for it would completely use up all the shield power too, - that was where he drew the remaining energy to power it from; everything but lifesupport, including impulse - but it would be enough. With Torpedoes to finish the job.
The trouble is, this one shot would only take out one cube - and they would not have transporters, and access to the shuttlebay would have to be done in spacesuits. If they used the shuttles as a screen, they might buy a few seconds - perhaps long enough to recharge, but it would probably take minutes, not seconds. But the Romulans still had their ship, didn't they? Between them, could they...?
Khev turned back at her and said seriously, in a low, low voice that reached every corner of the room, "Ramming speed."
